Early-944 cooling-fan relay clarified through research: the factory part is 944 615 113 (superseded 01→02→03), a multi-purpose relay that also serves the A/C circuit — on A/C cars a second identical unit sits in the passenger footwell, so persistent fan faults there mean checking the footwell relay too.
