CV Joint Boot Check

Introduction

CV joint boots should be inspected every 15,000 miles.

Tools

  • Jack stands
  • Floor jack

Procedure

  1. Raise the rear of the vehicle on jack stands.
  2. Inspect the CV joint boots for signs of cracking.
  3. Squeeze the CV joint boots and inspect for grease leaking from any cracks.
  4. Replace the boot if it shows deep cracking (greater than 1 mm) OR if any grease is leaking from cracks in the boot.
