Introduction
CV joint boots should be inspected every 15,000 miles.
Tools
- Jack stands
- Floor jack
Procedure
- Raise the rear of the vehicle on jack stands.
- Inspect the CV joint boots for signs of cracking.
- Squeeze the CV joint boots and inspect for grease leaking from any cracks.
- Replace the boot if it shows deep cracking (greater than 1 mm) OR if any grease is leaking from cracks in the boot.
